The Fervor and Mindset of a Startup

For this edition, I take inspiration from Richard Quest’s Clip on CNN coming from Davos, Rethink, Redesign, Rebuild.  Follow this URL

Very appropriately, as the video suggests, the businesses world over, no matter what size, shape or vertical they might be in, will have to start thinking like how a typical startup team thinks and behaves.

It will need to bring in that same energy and enthusiasm to work against seemingly difficult odds and overcome them, all from the sheer joy of seeing a new idea, concept, product and / or service come to life. For a while, the maintenance people will have to take a back seat and let those that are zealous about growth lead the front. There is nothing in the economy that can allow any business anywhere in the world the luxury to wait and watch. Every possible resource has now been made available and it is for the enterprises to bring the best of such talent and resources from across the globe to deliver results.

This is a great opportunity for the services business and India in re-shaping the economic order with powerful alliances and an approach to the world that spells knowledge and experience in a humble yet lasting effect, to become the epicenter of innovation and thereby growth. For a country that is looking at double-digit growth figures, where more than 80% of its literate population is computer literate and is young and savvy to make a difference, this is the ideal time to galvanize Human Capital for a digital revolution. Indian service businesses must be bold to invest in infrastructure and communications that allows them think globally and act locally, leveraging global talent for a change as opposed to others leveraging their talent. India is celebrating her 60th Republic Day since her independence and it is about time that India showcased to the world that it is possible to be spiritual and yet succeed in commerce. That balance comes from the ability to stay focused on the innermost core of our being that is in synergy with the external core.

Conflict and the consequential economic downturn arises when this synergy is disturbed. Because, business enterprises try to create something out of their businesses, be it good or bad intention, products and / or services that do not synergize the internal and external core. This new decade is nothing short of starting up all over again for a workl order that will be revolutionized by the advances in digital technology.
