Perform, Perish or Politic?

In these times of instant gratification, the path of least resistance is the most favored choice, isn’t it? At least, for the majority of us. And for the minority, they are just that. The marginalized group who either cause tremendous harm to themselves or come around to join the majority at one time or the other forced by circumstances and encumberances. What will President Obama do?

More importantly, what will you and I do when we are faced with the enormity of such a decision in a vantage position of responsibility of where we are in life; leave alone the head of the world’s most powerful democracy. There has been a muted debate going on about spiritualism in our way of life. It is about time it surfaced into the open and the decibel levels are turned up.

Each one of us, including President Obama, will have to reach deep down within oursleves, to find the courage of conviction to carry out the purpose that contributes to society. The spirit in the “ism” is about finding the right thing and doing the right thing. You can provide it with different labels for different circumstance such as TQM in Manufacturing & Business, Religion in your personal lives and so on.

But the critical thing to recognize is – it is anyway difficcult; why not make the difficult choice for once in life? Try and lose that first 10 pounds from our obese self and feel light. Imagine, if you can feel so good by losing physical weight, imagine how much more lighter you would feel if you could lose the toxic waste stored in your conscience and become lighter to act. Uninhibited by the fat in the layers that has prevented us to process data and information with purity and purpose and pursue goals that benefit a larger audience than “Myself”.

Well, that is spiritualism, isn’t it? Or do I still stand the ridicule of a “Change Management Guru” who recently accused me of being “Idealistic”.
